A few days ago on September 13, 2013 Bombardier made this announcement "Bombardier is pleased to announce that the first CSeries aircraft, flight test vehicle one (FTV1), is set for its maiden flight. The flight is scheduled to depart Montréal–Mirabel International Airport tomorrow morning."
The aircraft had been ready for flight but the weather had not cooperated until now. So today, on Monday, September 16, 2013 with cool temperatures and clear blue skies, Chuck Ellis, Chief Test Pilot at the controls, took the plane out for its first flight. The plane flew and flew beautifully! Guy Hachey, President and CEO of Bombardier Aerospace and Mike Arcamone, President Bombardier Commercial Aircraft were also on board. Upon landing, they said they were very pleased with the first flight. On the ground, the announcers constantly spoke about how quiet the airplane was and that they could hear an overhead helicopter more clearly than the FTV1.
Bombardier is the world’s only manufacturer of both planes and trains. Looking far ahead while delivering today, Bombardier is evolving mobility worldwide by answering the call for more efficient, sustainable and enjoyable transportation everywhere. Their vehicles, services and, most of all, their employees are what make them a global leader in transportation.
