(International Society of Transport Aircraft Traders) celebrates its 30 year anniversary. Congratulations ISTAT
The ISTAT Americas conference held in Orlando, Florida at the Grande Lakes Conference Center March 12-14, 2013 is flanked on either side by the JW Marriott and the Ritz Carlton. This event also celebrated its biggest attendance yet with over 1500 professionals from around the world who are responsible for most of the commercial jet activity from cradle to grave. Networking, deals, new contacts and resources are the by-word at this well attended event. Just to name a few who attended, Nico Bucholz of Lufthansa, John Leahy of Airbus, David Sutton from FedEx, Ray Sisson from AWAS, Kevin Casey from PEMCO, Dan Pietrzak from Delta and Steve Udvar-Hazy with his longtime friend and colleague John Plueger from ALC were readily seen during the conference, cocktail receptions and coffee breaks. Anyone who is conducting or wants to conduct business in the commercial jet world trading community knows that the ISTAT Americas, ISTAT Asia and ISTAT Europe are events they need to have on their calendar unless business urgently calls.
Social events were offered the day before the official conference sessions started such as a Tennis Tournament, Golf Tournament, Skeet Shooting and a Charity Poker Tournament. This gave people valuable time together in a relaxed setting that isn’t possible during a busy conference filled with sessions, pre-arranged meetings and organized dinners. As many professionals know, business is not always conducted in the office and these relaxed, purposeful events help build close relationships which can be priceless in this relationship-valuable business.
The next ISTAT events to be held will be ISTAT Asia, May 12-14 in Tokyo, Japan; the ISTAT Airshow Reception, June 17, 2013, Paris, France; the ISTAT Member Private Chalet at the Paris Airshow, June 17 – 22, 2013 then ISTAT Europe in Barcelona Spain, October 6-8, 2013. Coming up in its third year will be Holiday Receptions typically held in December both on the East Coast in NYC, USA and the other side of the pond in London, UK.
For over 30 years, the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) has been dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and educational opportunities in commercial aviation while providing a forum for those involved in the aviation and supporting industries. ISTAT currently represents more than 2600 members worldwide who are involved in operating, manufacturing, maintaining, selling, purchasing, financing, leasing, appraising, insuring or other activities related to the commercial aviation sector. Today, ISTAT is the premier industry association providing forums for increased networking and educational opportunities within the aviation community.
