AerCap CEO Heinemann To Retire In 2011; Names Aengus Kelly Successor

Oct 05, 2010 - AMSTERDAM - Aircraft leasing company AerCap Holdings N.V.  Monday stated that Klaus Heinemann, who has been serving as a member of the company's Board of Directors since 2002 and Chief Executive Officer since April, will retire from those positions. The company's Board has accepted Heinemann's decision not to renew his contract and retire at the age of 60 in 2011. AerCap Inc.'s CEO Aengus Kelly will succeed Heinemann, while Erwin den Dikken, the current Chief Legal Officer, will become the new Chief Operating Officer with effect from October 1.

The company also said that, at the company's 2011 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held in May, the Board will propose the appointment of Aengus Kelly, currently Chief Executive Officer of AerCap Inc. and responsible for AerCap's operations in the Americas, as a member of the Board. Later, the Board will appoint Kelly as the company's Chief Executive Officer.

All changes are expected to be effective as per the date of the AGM. Heinemann will work closely with Aengus over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.

Heinemann started his career with Bank of America in 1976, where he helped to build up its Aviation Finance department in Europe. He joined AerCap in 2002 from DVB Bank, where he was a Member of the Executive Board.

In 1988, Heinemann joined the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan in London as Deputy General Manager and Head of the Aviation Group. Later, he was appointed as Joint General Manager of the Head Office at the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan, where he was responsible for the Transportation Finance division before this division was sold to DVB Bank in 1998.

Kelly, who became the Chief Executive Officer of AerCap, Inc. in January 2008, is currently responsible for all of AerCap's operations in North and South America. Prior to that, he was the Group Treasurer of AerCap. Kelly started his career in the aviation leasing and financing business with Guinness Peat Aviation or GPA in 1998 and continued working with its successors AerFi in Ireland and debis AirFinance and AerCap in Amsterdam and Florida. Prior to joining GPA in 1998, he spent three years with KPMG in Dublin.

Further, AerCap stated that Erwin den Dikken, former Chief Executive Officer of AerCap Ireland Limited and Chief Legal Officer of AerCap Holdings N.V., has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer of AerCap Holdings N.V. with effect from October 1. Dikken will continue as continue as Chief Legal Officer.

Dikken has served as AerCap's Chief Legal Officer since 2005 and as the head of the Group Legal Services department since 2004. In 2007, he became the Chief Executive Officer of AerCap's Irish operations. Before joining AerCap in 1998, Dikken worked for an international packaging company in Germany as Senior Legal Counsel, focusing on mergers and acquisitions.
